Deryck Jayson Whibley (born March 21, 1980), also known as Bizzy D, is a musician and producer better known for his work as the guitarist and lead vocalist and songwriter of Canadian pop punk Juno Award winning band Sum 41. He also plays the guitar, drums and keyboard/piano. As a producer he was one of the founders and directors of Bunk Rock Productions. Whibley was born in Scarborough, Ontario. And at 16, after having created Sum 41, he met Treble Charger's frontman Greg Nori at a local place in Ontario.
Besides Sum 41, Whibley has developed a professional career in the music industry as producer and manager. Deryck was part of Bunk Rock Music, a music management and production company. In Bunk Rock he had co-produced some of the Greig Nori's band albums, Treble Charger. In Treble Charger he has also done backing vocals for the album Detox, in the company, he used to produce for No Warning. Since parting ways with Greig, he sold his part of the company, in early 2005.
During the Sum 41 hiatus in 2005 and 2006,he worked with Tommy Lee on guitar and backing vocals for his album Tommyland: The Ride and A Million in Prizes: The Anthology, from Iggy Pop.
Currently he is working as the producer of the first EP album from the side project of bandmate Cone McCaslin, called Operation M.D. and the producer of the next Sum 41 album. For 2007, he is mixing the first album of a new band called Permanent Me. Besides his musical career he has worked on occasion as an actor. He portrayed the character Tony on the movie Dirty Love and himself as guest character in King Of The Hill.
In Janurary of 2004, he began dating fellow Canadian pop/rocker Avril Lavigne. On the last part of her European Tour for the Bonez Tour shows, she and Whibley took a trip to one of their most visited and favorite places: Italy on June 23-25, 2005. Specifically Venice, where Deryck proposed. They were seen on Gondola rides, and having a picnic. The couple finally married in a traditional ceremony on July 15, 2006 at a private estate in the California coastal city of Montecito, located 87 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Lavigne wore a Vera Wang gown, carried pearl white Australian roses and was walked down the aisle by her father. Whibley wore a Hugo Boss suit and was accompanied by four groomsmen, Steve Jocz (his best man, and Sum 41's drummer), Jason "Cone" McCaslin (Sum 41's bassist), Avril's older brother Matt Lavigne, and Sum 41's close friend Robb Dipple. There were about 110 guests in attendance. Their first dance as a married couple was to the Goo Goo Dolls song Iris. Other than recording/mixing new material for the new Sum 41 record, he produced a few songs for Avril Lavigne's new record, The Best Damn Thing.
